The Sainte-Chapelle was constructed within the heart of the Palais de la Cité, Parisian royal residence, in the middle of the XIIIth century by Louis IXth. Conceived as a monumental reliquary, the Sainte Chapelle housed the Crown of Thorns of Christ’s Passion.
Today, the architecture and famous-glass windows of the Sainte Chapelle represent a major example of the Radiant Gothic period.
